Terms of Service
Effective 18 July 2026 · Our Shomando, Pune, Maharashtra, India · website & payment gateway supported by AxiomGrid Tech (OPC) Pvt Ltd (together, “the Library”, “we”, “us”).
By creating an account or placing an order on shomando.com you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Membership
- You must provide accurate details (name, email, phone, delivery address) and keep them current. We call and email to confirm orders — unreachable members may have orders cancelled.
- One account per person. Members under 18 must join and use the Library under a parent or guardian's supervision; the guardian is responsible for age-appropriate title selection (our age ratings are guidance only) and for these Terms.
- We may refuse, suspend, or close membership at our sole discretion, including for overdue books, damage, misuse, or abusive behaviour.
2. Orders, rent & payment
- An order may hold up to 5 books, for 7–30 days. Rent is calculated per book per day from the book's catalogued value (minimum ₹5/book/day), plus a flat ₹25 delivery fee per order.
- All orders are requests: they are subject to availability and our acceptance, at our sole discretion.
- Payment for the entire order (rent + delivery + any deposit) is either pre-paid by UPI (details emailed with each order) or Cash on Delivery — collected in person, in full, before the books are handed over. If an order is rejected or cancelled by us, any payment received for it is refunded in full.
- The rental period starts when the order is issued. Rent is not refundable for early returns.
3. Security deposit
- A one-time refundable security deposit of ₹300 is collected with your first order — by UPI with the pre-payment, or in person at the first delivery.
- The deposit is refunded when you leave the Library, once all books are returned in good condition and all dues are cleared. We may deduct from the deposit any unpaid rent, late fees, or damage/loss charges before refunding the balance.
4. Care of books — the heart of these Terms 📚
- All books remain the property of the Library at all times. Renting gives you the right to read them, not ownership.
- You agree to handle books with care: keep them away from food, liquids, sunlight, pets, and small children with crayons; do not fold pages, mark, annotate, cut, or photocopy them; keep them in the packaging when not reading.
- Books must be returned on or before the due date. A late fee of up to ₹10 per book per day may be charged for late returns.
- If a book is returned damaged (in the Library's reasonable judgment), or lost, or not returned within 15 days of the due date, you agree to pay its full catalogued replacement value plus a ₹100 processing charge per book. The Library's assessment of damage is final.
- Lending your rented books onward to others is not permitted — you remain fully responsible for them until we take them back.
5. Delivery & returns
- Delivery and pickup happen at the shipping address on your profile. Please ensure someone is available; repeated failed attempts may incur an extra delivery fee or order cancellation.
- Please check books at delivery and report any pre-existing damage the same day (WhatsApp is fine) — otherwise the books are considered delivered in good condition.
6. Liability
- The service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Library's total liability for any claim is limited to the amounts you paid to us in the 30 days before the claim arose.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for delays outside our reasonable control.
7. General
- We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced on the site or by email, and continued use means acceptance.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of India; courts at Pune, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction.
